It’s amazing, they say, how possessions accumulate.
I’ve been acquiring and collecting minerals since I was 6 years old. Boxes of rocks accumulated in the shed, transported from house to house.
I’ve finally got around to unpacking them. It’s like Christmas!
Thing is, if I’m honest with myself, I don’t really need ALL of them. Some – the best and the unusual – will find a home in my collection. Some will find a home in my garden(!)
And the rest, at least those good enough to sell, I’ll put them up here…
They can go to new homes.
Working through these boxes with the intent of cataloging and culling is an interesting activity in it’s own right. In order to sell specimens I need to photograph them. That’s deeply satisfying. My photography skills improve daily. I’m learning post processing tools like Darktable and Zerene Stacker, pushing the limits of my equipment, lusting after new gear. In order to sell them I’ve had to build this website – lots of moving parts. And now I have a full time job it’s going to be a challenging time to keep it up, so forgive me if updates take a while.
I’ve a bunch of material ready to upload over the next week or two before I dive back in to cataloging the next batch. stay tuned.
