Description

Unsorted Almandine-Pyrope Garnet rough from Zambia, Sangu garnet deposit.

90+ % cuttable material with the bulk (80%) of the stones between 6 and 10 carats and 10% larger still. Approximately 60% immediately cuttable, 30% more than half cuttable and 10% probably uncuttable (your mileage may vary, with luck). Estimated yield before cutting over 60%.
Minimum 200ct.

Composition 47% Pyrope, 40% Almandine, 10% Grossular

Colour: Brown-red in transmission, brilliant strong red in reflection.
